Minesweeper Scoring and Leaderboards
Learn what counts as a valid clear and how your time appears on the global leaderboard.
Only a cleared board gets a time
The timer starts on your first reveal and stops when every safe square is open. A loss does not create a ranked result. You may flag mines or solve without flags; flags are not required to finish the board.
Your personal best is also kept locally in the browser, separately from the online ranking. Starting a new game or submitting a slower clear does not replace a faster personal record.
Compare like with like
Classic results are separated by Beginner, Intermediate, and Expert, and can be browsed by day, week, month, or all time. The Daily Challenge has one shared board per UTC date and its own ranking. Each player keeps a best result for the selected board and period.
A time is compared only with results for the same difficulty and period. Flags do not count as reveal moves, and an unfinished or lost board is not a completed result for the leaderboard.
Nickname and tie-breaks
Choose a nickname of 2 to 18 letters or numbers when you submit a result. No account is required. Faster clear time ranks first; if times match, fewer reveal moves wins the tie. Your personal bests are also saved locally in this browser.
How a result reaches the ranking
A result is submitted after a board is cleared. The server checks the issued game and the set of safe squares before accepting the result, then keeps the player’s best time for that difficulty and period. Faster times rank first; fewer reveal moves break a tie.
The public row can show your nickname, time, reveal moves, and a country flag when a valid country code is available. A random browser identifier connects your own results without an account. Clearing browser storage can create a different identifier.
How to read the country table
The All-time Countries view groups Classic records by country for the selected difficulty. Each country is represented by its fastest successful time; fewer reveal moves break a tie. The player count gives context and does not decide the rank.
Select a country to see its player records. A flag appears when the game receives a valid country code; the leaderboard does not need a precise location to show it.
- Choose a difficulty before comparing country times.
- Use All Time for the country ranking.
- Open a country row to view its players.
