HOW THE DAILY BOARD WORKS
One layout. Three difficulties. Your best clear counts.
The daily board is shared
Each UTC day has a fixed board seed for Beginner, Intermediate, and Expert. The highlighted center square opens the same safe starting area for every player. After that, use the clues to clear the minefield in as little time as you can.
The board refreshes at 00:00 UTC. A daily result belongs to the date on which the board was started. If you return to an earlier board after it has expired, you can still practice locally, but the old run cannot enter today's ranking.
The layout is based on the UTC date and difficulty, so refreshing the page does not create a new daily board. You can replay today’s layout, but only your best valid time for that difficulty is kept on today’s list.
How the ranking is decided
Only a complete, successful board receives a daily time. The leaderboard sorts by clear time, then by fewer revealed moves when times match. Beginner, Intermediate, and Expert results are kept separate because their board sizes and mine counts differ.
You can replay today's board. The fastest valid time you submit for your nickname and browser player ID is the one kept on that day's board. A nickname is enough to play; no account or personal profile is required.
The daily ranking is tied to one date and is separate from the Classic periods. A completed board is checked before its time is listed; unfinished boards and losses do not receive a ranked result.
Make a careful opening
Start with the marked center tile and inspect every number it opens. A number counts mines in all eight neighboring positions. When a number already touches as many flagged mines as its value, the other covered neighbors are safe to open.
Do not rush a flag into every covered square. First check the surrounding clues, keep track of confirmed mines, and use the flag control to mark only deductions you trust. The timer rewards speed, but a lost board has no ranking time.
The highlighted starting square is protected together with its immediate neighbors. Once the opening appears, use the zoom controls to keep nearby clues in view and mark only mines supported by the numbers.
