How to Play Minesweeper on Mobile
Use dedicated Reveal and Flag controls to make precise moves on a touch screen.
Choose what a tap does
On a touch screen, select Reveal to open a covered square or Flag to mark a suspected mine. Switch modes before tapping; this avoids relying on a long press or desktop right-click. The highlighted mode shows what the next tap will do.
The selected tap action remains active until you change it. After marking a mine, switch back to Reveal before tapping a square you want to open; the highlighted control shows which action the next tap will use.
Navigate a wide minefield
Beginner fits most phone screens. Intermediate and Expert boards can scroll horizontally, so move the board as needed and keep the clue you are solving in view. The layout adapts to small screens while keeping the controls above the board.
Use short horizontal scrolls to follow the open edge of a large board. Keep the number you are analyzing and its covered neighbors on screen together, then move to the next clue once you have used the current one.
Use a steady touch routine
Read the number, scan all eight neighboring cells, then choose Reveal or Flag. If you tap an already opened number after placing the matching flags, the game can uncover its remaining neighbors. Double-check flags before using that shortcut.
Keep your place on a small screen
Use Fit to screen for an overview and zoom in when you need to compare several nearby clues. On wide boards, scroll a little at a time so the boundary between open and covered squares stays visible. Before tapping, check whether Reveal or Flag is selected.
